Ro'i
Raz is a multi-faceted guitarist and composer, whose music alludes to
a rainbow of cultures and musical traditions, including classical, jazz,
and various ethnic styles of the eastern hemisphere. His recently released
debut album, Between The Suns, on Sachimay Records (co-produced
by Gar Ragland), is a documentation of the journey he has been taking
through these different universes, using musical dialects to convey
both personal and universal emotions, attempting to usher the listener
through a spiritual journey of his/her own.
Growing up in Israel, Ro'i participated in concerts and festivals throughout
the country, including the annual Israel Festival, and Inbalim
festival, and has performed with the Israeli Broadcast Orchestra. Since
moving to the U.S. in 2000, he has been performing all over New England
as well as in Dallas, New York and Los Angeles.
Mr. Raz is a graduate of the Rubin Academy For Music in Jerusalem and
he recently completed the Masters Program in Contemporary Improvisation
at New
England Conservatory in Boston, where he studied with Ran
Blake, John Abercrombie, Gene Bertoncini, Peter Row, Bob Moses,
and others. While a student at NEC, Roi and his music were featured
several times in concerts at Jordan Hall.
Ro'i is
currently on the faculty of the Indian Hill Music Center in Littleton
, Massachusetts, and the Brookline Music School.
